Create, Secure, and Publish APIs with IBM API Connect 10

4.375,00€

Official 40-hour IBM training course that teaches you how to configure IBM API Connect 10, create REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs, secure them with OAuth 2.0, and publish them on the Developer Portal. Includes hands-on labs with real-world scenarios.

Category: API Connect
  • Description

Description

The course Create, Secure, and Publish APIs with IBM API Connect 10 course (WD515G) is an intensive 40-hour training designed for API developers who need to master enterprise-grade API lifecycle management. From creating REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs to publishing them securely on the Developer Portal, this course provides the practical skills the market demands.

At SIXE, we deliver this course with our specialised engineers — including IBM Champions with over 15 years of experience — across Europe, both on-site and online.

Why train on IBM API Connect 10?

IBM API Connect is the industry-leading integrated API management platform covering every phase of the API lifecycle: design, development, testing, security, publication, governance, and analytics. Version 10 introduces significant enhancements including native GraphQL support, a Local Test Environment, and advanced analytics dashboards.

APIs are the backbone of digital transformation and microservices architectures. Organisations that implement a well-defined API management strategy dramatically accelerate integration cycles, improve data security, and reduce operational costs. This course equips you to lead that transformation within your organisation.

Course objectives

Upon completing this training, you will be able to:

  • Configure Cloud Manager services in an on-premises API Connect 10 installation
  • Create catalogues, provider organisations, and consumer organisations
  • Create, test, and publish REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs following the OpenAPI specification
  • Assemble message processing policies to transform API requests and responses
  • Implement OAuth 2.0 authorisation schemes and client security definitions
  • Perform advanced testing with the Test tab and the Local Test Environment
  • Manage the complete product lifecycle: stage, publish, version, migrate, deprecate, and retire
  • Customise the Developer Portal and analyse API usage metrics from API Manager

Course syllabus (40 hours / 5 days)

Module 1 — Fundamentals and environment setup

Introduction to IBM API Connect V10 architecture and core components. Review of the development and runtime environments. Configuration of catalogues and provider/consumer organisations.

Lab: Configure catalogues and consumer organisations in API Manager.

Module 2 — Creating REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs

Defining APIs in API Manager using the OpenAPI specification. Creating REST APIs from target services, APIs that invoke existing SOAP services, and building a GraphQL API from scratch.

Labs: Define a SOAP API · Define a REST API from a target service · Create and test a GraphQL API.

Module 3 — Message processing policies and security

Assembling message processing policies to transform and validate requests. Declaring client authorisation requirements. Creating an OAuth 2.0 provider to secure API access.

Labs: Assemble processing policies · Implement OAuth 2.0 security.

Module 4 — Advanced testing and debugging

Using the integrated Test tab to test and debug APIs. Introduction to the Local Test Environment for isolated testing without publishing. GraphQL-specific testing techniques.

Labs: Test tab · GraphQL testing · Local Test Environment.

Module 5 — Publishing, lifecycle, and analytics

Defining products and plans in API Manager. Complete lifecycle flow: stage → publish → version → migrate → deprecate → retire. Subscribing to and testing APIs from the Developer Portal. Analysing dashboards and usage visualisations. Customising the Developer Portal appearance.

Labs: Define and publish an API product · Subscriptions and testing in the Developer Portal · Managing and approving API products · Monitoring API usage · Customising the portal.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for API developers and integration professionals working with service-oriented architectures, microservices, and hybrid cloud platforms. It is especially relevant for teams already using or planning to adopt IBM API Connect as their API management platform.

Prerequisites

To get the most out of this training, the following knowledge is recommended:

  • Basic understanding of web services and protocols (HTTP, REST, SOAP)
  • Basic application programming experience
  • Conceptual knowledge of APIs and their role in modern architectures
  • Basic understanding of Red Hat Linux

If you need to reinforce these foundations, browse our complete IBM API Connect course catalogue.

Certification and IBM badge

Upon course completion, you will receive an official diploma and an IBM digital badge through Credly that you can share on your LinkedIn profile and other professional platforms. This credential validates your skills in creating, securing, and publishing APIs with IBM API Connect 10.

Our instructors

At SIXE, every IBM course is delivered by highly qualified, certified professionals, including IBM Champions with over 15 years of real-world enterprise experience.
