Advanced AIX and Linux virtualization with PowerVM

Presentation

The 3-day intensive course, entitled Advanced AIX and Linux Virtualization with PowerVM, is designed to provide system administrators with a thorough understanding and practical skills essential to deploy, configure and manage virtualized environments on Power systems.
During this course, a real production environment will be simulated in our labs, using LPARs running on redundant VIOS on IBM Power servers.
This hands-on experience ensures that participants not only understand the theory behind PowerVM, but also master its application in real-world scenarios, maximizing the efficiency and availability of their virtual environments.

The Advanced AIX and Linux Virtualization with PowerVM course is carefully structured to cover all key aspects of virtualization in AIX and Linux environments, from initial installation and configuration to advanced administration and troubleshooting.
At the end of the three days, participants will have acquired the skills necessary to maximize the efficiency and availability of their virtual environments, as well as best practices to optimize performance and ensure operational continuity.

Agenda

  • Virtualization with PowerVM: features and capabilities.
  • Advanced HMC management, DLPAR operations and troubleshooting.
  • Installation and configuration of VIO Server.
  • Storage virtualization, multipathing and redundant configurations (MPIO, SDDPCM).
  • Network virtualization and redundant configurations (Sea Failover, Etherchannel, vNICs).
  • Installation of AIX on client LPARs (VMs).

Audience

This course is intended for system administrators who already have experience administering AIX or Linux systems, with at least one year of prior experience in Power Systems environments.
It is especially useful for those professionals looking to advance their technical knowledge and practical skills in advanced AIX and Linux virtualization with PowerVM in business-critical environments.

Through this course, participants will learn how to handle not only the day-to-day tasks of managing a virtualized environment, but also how to address and resolve complex issues that can arise in production systems.
The course combines theory and practice to ensure that attendees leave with a solid foundation in PowerVM, as well as the confidence to manage advanced and critical virtualization environments in their organizations.

In addition, the course addresses best practices in configuring high availability and redundancy in Power systems, covering both network and storage virtualization.
This comprehensive approach ensures that participants are prepared to implement robust and highly available solutions in their enterprise environments, which is crucial to maintain operational continuity and meet the demanding requirements of their organizations.
