Description

This official IBM course teaches your team to administer Turbonomic: connecting it to the infrastructure it has to manage, deciding which actions it carries out on its own and which still go through a person, and producing the reports that show the value of those actions. We deliver it over two days to closed groups from your organisation, in English, Spanish or French, using IBM’s official syllabus and materials, and if your team also works with IBM Instana we can combine both courses and the implementation of both tools in a single proposal.

IBM Turbonomic Administration TN902G course details

Code: TN902GCategory: IBM Turbonomic
Delivery: on site at your offices, or live online with a remote labDuration in days: 2 (16 hours)
Level: intermediateLanguage: English, Spanish or French
Group: private, from two delegatesNext course: Turbonomic: Container Platform Optimization (TN930G)

Who the course is for

System administrators, DevOps teams, consultants and operators who are about to roll out IBM Turbonomic or will work with it every day.

Recommended prerequisites:

  • IBM lists its two online introductory courses as prerequisites: IBM Turbonomic Introduction (DL32000G) and IBM Turbonomic Cloud Cost Management (DL32001G).
  • If your team has never used Turbonomic, the one-day IBM Turbonomic Foundations (TN901G) course covers that ground, on site or online.

What you will learn

IBM structures this course around practical objectives. By the end, delegates can:

  • Apply the licence to the Turbonomic instance and add targets, the connections to the hypervisors, clouds and container platforms that Turbonomic reads data from and acts on.
  • Add users and configure their permissions.
  • Create groups using different criteria so that every action can be read in context.
  • Automate placement and scaling actions.
  • Stop and start cloud resources with parking policies, for instance to avoid paying for machines left running outside business hours.
  • Understand how scaling constraints shape the actions Turbonomic proposes.
  • Run capacity plans and interpret the results.
  • Access the reports that show the business value of the actions taken.

Need specific dates or a tailored syllabus? Ask for dates and a quote for your group.

How we deliver it

Because the group is made up solely of your staff, the instructor can focus explanations and questions on the targets you already have, whether VMware, OpenShift or a public cloud, and discuss your infrastructure without exposing it to delegates from other companies. If the official syllabus does not quite fit, we adapt the content, exercises and duration, and you receive a proposal within 24 working hours.

Added value

Turbonomic makes better decisions when it knows the application’s real response time, and that figure comes from an observability tool such as IBM Instana: if your team will work with both, the Advanced Administering Environments with IBM Instana Observability (TN202G) course completes the path. SIXE has been an IBM Business Partner and, alongside training, handles Instana and Turbonomic implementation and IBM licensing, including licence audits and renewals.
