Why companies
buy a server

Five workloads, five different machines. The same configuration will not do for recording cameras and for training a model, and what changes is not always what people expect.

Virtualisation server

VMware, Proxmox or Hyper-V. What rules here is memory and cores per socket, not clock speed. Consolidating ten machines runs out of RAM long before it runs out of CPU. How we build it.

Storage and business NAS server

Bays, controller and network. A backup that takes eight hours to restore is not a backup: the figure that counts is how long it takes you to get back into production. Backup with Veeam.

Database server

SQL Server, PostgreSQL or whichever ERP. The bottleneck is almost never the CPU: it is storage latency and how much of the database fits in memory. Databases.

Video surveillance and NVR server

Continuous recording from IP cameras. You need drives rated for sustained writes, which is not the same as large drives, and enough network not to drop frames.

GPU server for AI and machine learning

Training and inference call for completely different machines. And the question is not how many GPUs fit in the chassis, but how many you can power and cool. AI infrastructure.

Price and quotes

What does a server
actually cost?

It depends on the workload it has to carry, and anyone who quotes you a figure before asking about it is showing you their stock, not your solution. Configure what you need above and we send you a quote with specific components, lead time and price. If you would rather talk it through first, get in touch.

If you arrived with a model in mind

HP, Dell, Lenovo,
Supermicro…

Plenty of people arrive looking for a specific part number because somebody recommended it, not because they compared it. Tell us which one you have in mind and we will tell you whether it fits the workload, what it has too much of and what it lacks.

If what you want is not to buy, there is also rental and leasing.

Questions before buying

What people
always ask us

What does a business server cost?

There is no list price because there is no list machine. What moves the price is memory, the number of drives and whether you need GPUs: between the most modest configuration and one with graphics cards there is an order of magnitude. Configure what you need above and we will send you a quote with specific components.

Tower or rack?

If you have no cabinet, tower: a 19-inch rack server with nowhere to rack it ends up on a storeroom floor. If you already have a cabinet, rack almost always: it takes less space, cools better and grows by stacking. A tower is also usually quieter, which matters when the machine lives in the same room as people.

What do 1U, 2U and 4U mean?

La rack unit is 4.45 cm of height in a 19-inch cabinet. A 1U is a flat box that holds four 3.5-inch drives and little else; a 2U doubles the height and reaches twelve; a 4U is the one that takes upright graphics cards and serious cooling. That is why asking for a lot of capacity raises the form factor: it is not a sales decision, the drives simply do not fit.

New or refurbished server?

Refurbished is good on price and bad on warranty. If the machine is going to hold up production, the first incident without a spare available eats the difference. For a test environment or a second standby node, it is a reasonable option. We tell you which of the two cases you are in before selling you anything.

How many virtual machines can a server handle?

It depends on what they do, not how many there are. Twenty light service machines fit where five database ones will not. In practice memory sets the limit long before the CPU does: when somebody runs short, it is almost always RAM. You can see how we build it on virtual machines with Proxmox, KVM and PowerVM.

Do you handle installation and support too?

Yes. The machine arrives assembled, tested and with the base system installed, and if you want we put it into production ourselves. Ongoing maintenance runs through third-party support, with no dependency on the manufacturer.

How we work

From the configuration
to the machine built

01

We review your build

We check what you configured against the real workload you have to carry, and adjust whatever does not fit.

02

A firm proposal

Specific components, lead time and price, with whichever manufacturer best fits your case.

03

Assembly and start-up

It arrives assembled, tested and with the base system installed. If you want, we put it into production ourselves.
