Course Description
This intensive technical workshop has been completely redesigned to address the challenges of the modern Data Centre in 2025. Moving beyond legacy concepts, we focus on software-defined infrastructure and high-performance hardware.
The aim is to empower system administrators and architects to design, deploy, and operate the Lenovo ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile range. Through a hands-on approach, we will work with the latest technologies in computing (GPU/TPU), modern storage (NVMe over Fabric), and hybrid orchestration (VMware vSphere 8, Kubernetes).
Technological Evolution
We include a dedicated module on strategic migration: how to transition from classic blade architectures (such as Flex System) towards modern high-density rack infrastructure and hyperconverged solutions.

- Architecture of modern 1U/2U/4U chassis and Edge servers.
- Integration of AI accelerators: GPU (NVIDIA) and TPU.
- Memory technologies: DDR5, PCIe Gen5, and CXL.
- Thermal management: Liquid Cooling and sustainability.
Module 2 Composable Infrastructure
- Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 V3 / SR665 composable.
- Low-latency networking: 25G/100G Ethernet and RoCE.
- Resource Disaggregation concepts.
Module 3 Modern Storage
- Modern protocols: NVMe and NVMe over Fabric.
- Lenovo ThinkSystem DM/DE Series and tiering.
- SDS Integration (vSAN, Ceph).
Module 4 Virtualisation & Containers
- VMware vSphere 8.x installation on Lenovo hardware.
- Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift.
- GPU Pooling for AI workloads.
Module 5 Automation & Management (IaC)
- Lenovo XClarity Administrator: Lifecycle management.
- Automation with Ansible and XClarity.
- Python scripting via XClarity API and ThinkShield.
CASE STUDY Migration & Strategy
- Migration from Blade (Flex System) to High-Density Rack.
- Replatforming strategies and ROI/TCO.
