01 Who it is for

You have just joined a project that already runs DOORS

Somebody handed you an account, a link and a module with three thousand objects. The course is built for exactly that moment: it does not revisit requirements engineering theory, it teaches you to work inside the tool without disrupting everyone else's work.

02 Structure

Two days: concepts in the morning, lab in the afternoon

Sessions are closed and built for each team, so how much weight each block gets is agreed with you when the dates are set. Every afternoon builds on the same sample project, which grows through the course into a complete case with several requirement levels, their tests and a frozen delivery.

Data model and editingDay 1

The first day places the tool: how a DOORS database is organised, which pieces it uses to represent requirements, and how to work inside an existing project without disrupting anyone else. The afternoon is a guided lab starting from real documentation.

Traceability and deliverablesDay 2

The second day moves into links across levels and into what has to be produced at the end: how a version is frozen, how you spot what a change has left pending review, and how the information reaches people who do not have the tool installed.

This is a coverage view. The requirement in the corner has no test verifying it, and the tool flags it on its own. Reading a view like this, and building one, is the work of day two.

Do I need previous DOORS experience?

No. This is the entry point of the path and it starts from the data model. If you already know how to create modules and link objects, the right level for you is advanced.

Do I need a requirements engineering background?

It helps, but it is not a prerequisite. The course is about the tool; what makes a good requirement comes up alongside the exercises rather than as a theory block.

Can it be compressed into one day?

+

There is a one-day version focused on navigation, views and reading traceability, without authoring or baselines. It suits profiles who consult but do not edit. For everything else, two days is the minimum with a lab.

Which DOORS version is used?

DOORS 9.7.2, the classic branch, together with DOORS Web Access. If your environment is on DOORS Next the applicable syllabus is a different one: it is covered at expert level and in our migration services.

What do attendees take away?

The course manual, the briefs and solutions for both labs, and the sample project exported so they can reproduce it in your environment.

Can you run it at our offices?

Yes. We travel with the lab already built and only need connectivity and one workstation per attendee. We also deliver it live online with an instructor.
