Inference at the site

It suits computer vision next to the production line, video analytics in shops or warehouses, or a small language model that has to keep answering when the link goes down.

For telecoms, Lenovo positions it for RAN and private 5G: with the PN-series processors it's designed for NEBS Level 3, and it takes -48 V DC power.

What we do

We deliver it with RHEL, Ubuntu, SLES, Windows Server or VMware ESXi, with the NVIDIA drivers and your application already installed. If you'll have several sites, we set up Kubernetes at each one so you can deploy models from a single place. More on this in containers and Kubernetes.

All the GPUs in a server must be identical. L40S GPUs need a processor of 130 W or less and a room below 40 °C.

What your data centre needs

It fits two-post or 600 mm deep racks, and the dust filter sits inside the front bezel, with an airflow sensor. It takes -48 V DC power supplies. If it sits where people work, it has quiet modes of 40 and 45 dBA.

SE455i V3: the fixed configuration for inference

Lenovo sells a version with fixed components for inference, suited to a vision model or a small LLM per site. It runs from 5 to 40 °C.

Questions about the ThinkEdge SE455 V3

SE455 V3 or SE455i V3?

The SE455i V3 is a fixed configuration: a 64-core EPYC, 576 GB and two L4s. If you need other GPUs, more drives or a wider temperature range, go for the built-to-order SE455 V3.

What happens if it's stolen or opened?

It detects when the cover is opened and when the unit is moved, and can shut down, lock the encrypted drives and cut off remote access. The cover locks, and a lockable front bezel is available.

Can it be shipped to any country?

With the high-end GPUs, Lenovo sells it on a base model subject to US export rules, so depending on the destination it may need a licence. We check this when we prepare the quote.

What warranty does it come with?

Three years, with an on-site engineer next business day, upgradable to a 4- or 2-hour response. Beyond that, we can provide our own 24×7 on-call support with SLA.
