IBM DOORS Next: requirements management (ODC8005G)

1.225,00€

One day on IBM DOORS Next — what IBM now calls Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next, and what most people still search for as DOORS Next Generation or DOORS NG: capturing and editing requirements, building traceability between them and across the project, and working with global configuration.

SKU: 556. Category: Rational
  • Description

Description

IBM course code:ODC8005G
Delivery:Online, classroom or onsite
Duration:1 days (8 hours)
Who it is for:Analysts, requirements engineers and project managers working with DOORS Next.
Recommended background:None formally. Having worked with requirements helps, in classic DOORS or any other tool.

Who this course fits

  • Teams migrating from classic DOORS to DOORS Next with no idea what changes.
  • Organisations who have to demonstrate requirements traceability to an audit or a standard.
  • Analysts inheriting a DOORS Next project who need to move around it from day one.

Course content

  • Viewing and working with requirements and related information within a global configuration context
  • Capturing, defining, elaborating and editing requirements
  • Creating and managing traceability relationships between requirements and the rest of the project information
  • Managing requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lab on a real environment

Training with SIXE, IBM Business Partner

  • Labs on a real DOORS database: requirements get imported, traceability links created, and deliberately broken to see what happens.
  • Taught directly by IBM Champion instructors from the SIXE team.
  • Credly badges available: credly.com/organizations/sixe/badges
  • Flexible format — online, classroom or onsite — in closed groups, priced per attendee, in the language of your choice (ES / EN / FR).

Instructors specialised in IBM Engineering and Rational

Engineers from the SIXE team who implement and administer DOORS and DOORS Next on real requirements management projects. Several recognised as IBM Champion.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as DOORS Next Generation?
Yes. IBM called it Rational DOORS Next Generation, then DOORS Next, and today it is listed as IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next. Same product, and this is its course.

How does it differ from classic DOORS?
Classic DOORS (9.x, covered in QN101G) is a desktop application with its own database. DOORS Next is web based, lives inside the Jazz platform and works with global configurations. Migrating between them is not an export and an import: links have to be rebuilt and decisions taken about what is kept, so it is worth seeing both before committing to a date.

Does it cover the traceability matrix?
Yes: creating and managing traceability relationships is one of the blocks, and that is what holds up a requirements traceability matrix when you have to show one.

Can you deliver it at our premises?
Yes, and remotely with a live instructor too. Closed groups of four to ten people, in Spanish, English or French.
