The server for the shop or branch office with no rack

It fits where you need a full x86 server and there is no rack to put it in, such as the back room of a shop. The EPYC 4545P belongs to the 4000 series for the AM5 socket, with 16 cores and 32 threads, and the board carries an ASPEED AST2600 management controller with its own network port, so from head office you can power it on, view the console and reinstall it without sending anyone. The four 1 GbE ports (Intel I350) are enough to separate the shop network, the camera network and the internet uplink.

It ships with 32 GB on a four-slot board that takes up to 192 GB, and a single 960 GB NVMe with no mirror. For a site that cannot afford to lose data we add a second NVMe in the other M.2 slot or keep the data replicated at the central site. And if networking is going to be the limit, its sibling the SYS-E300-14AR has two 10 GbE ports in the same chassis.

What we do

We deliver it with Proxmox VE for a couple of virtual machines (the point of sale and a domain controller, for example) or with k3s, the lightweight Kubernetes, if your applications already run in containers and you want to deploy them the same way at every site. The BMC is set up so you can reach it from your management network, with firmware and BIOS up to date before shipping.

Questions about the AS-E300-14GR-01-G2

What power supply does it use?

An external 180 W adapter. There is no redundant supply, so if the service at that site is critical it is worth keeping a spare adapter to hand or a second unit.

Where can I install it?

The datasheet gives 0 to 40 °C with 0.7 m/s of airflow. It has a fan on the heatsink and two more 40 mm fans, so it needs a ventilated spot without much dust, such as a back room or a comms room. For the shop floor without a fan there is only the ARS-E103-JONX-H2-01-G2, which is Arm and designed for computer vision, not virtualisation.

How much memory does it take?

Four slots and up to 192 GB of DDR5, ECC or non-ECC according to the datasheet. It ships with 32 GB, so if you plan to consolidate more virtual machines at the site we upgrade it before delivery, although that takes it out of the Gold configuration.

Is the AS-E300-14GR-01-G2 right for your sites?

Tell us how many sites you have and what needs to run at each one, and we'll come back with the price and a confirmed lead time.
