For the comms cabinet, where a data centre server will not fit
The storage servers in this same series are between 65 and 86 cm deep, while this one stops at 287 mm, so it fits in the 19-inch wall cabinet of a shop, bolted in between the switch and the patch panel. It carries two 1.92 TB SSDs to mirror, 64 GB of DDR5 expandable to 128 GB and a low-noise 200 W power supply, which you will appreciate when the cabinet sits in an office full of people. It also has DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI and VGA outputs in case the same unit drives a digital signage screen or a kiosk; Supermicro in fact places it in self-checkout tills.
The power supply is single, with no redundancy, and networking is limited to two 2.5 GbE ports. For file serving, user authentication or a handful of virtual machines at a branch it is plenty; if the site cannot trade without it, plan for a second unit or a fast replacement.
What we do
We deliver it with the SSDs mirrored and Proxmox VE or whichever Linux distribution you use, with the BMC (the remote management controller) configured on its dedicated port so you can manage it from head office. With a support contract, we take care of firmware and updates across every site, which is the first thing to slip when there are many sites and no technician at any of them.

Does it fit in a 19-inch wall cabinet?
It measures 437 × 43 × 287 mm, so it fits in most 19-inch wall cabinets with enough depth for the chassis and the rear cabling. Send us the cabinet model or its usable depth and we will check before you order.
Is it noisy?
It has a low-noise 200 W power supply and PWM-controlled 40 mm fans that adjust their speed to the temperature. You will hear it, like any server, but far less than a data centre 1U, which is why Supermicro aims it at shops with customers nearby.
Can the memory be expanded?
Yes, up to 128 GB of DDR5, ECC or non-ECC, across its four slots. Bear in mind that with all four populated, the datasheet drops memory speed from 5600 to 4400 MT/s.
