- Introduction to the platform
- TSO/E and ISPF: getting around the system
- Data sets: sequential, partitioned and VSAM
- JCL and SDSF: submitting jobs and reading their output
- Db2 relational database concepts
- SQL and SPUFI
- Db2 objects: databases, table spaces, tables, indexes and views
- The Db2 system and its commands
- Program preparation and utilities
- Shutdown, startup and recovery

- Day 1: introduction, TSO/E and ISPF, and sequential data sets
- Day 2: partitioned and VSAM data sets, JCL and SDSF
- Day 3: relational concepts, SQL through SPUFI and the first Db2 objects
- Day 4: the remaining objects, the Db2 system and its commands
- Day 5: program preparation, utilities and recovery

Frequently asked questions
Do I need mainframe experience?
No, and that is why this course runs two days longer than CV021G: the first two are pure z/OS, from logging into TSO to reading a job output in SDSF.
Which release is it taught on?
Yours. The official outline covers Db2 12, which left standard support on 31 December 2025; if you are on 13, it is taught on 13.
Can you deliver it at our premises?
Yes, and remotely with a live instructor too. Closed groups of four to ten people, in Spanish, English or French.
