RACF implementation and customisation (SZ81G)

3.075,00€

Three days underneath the daily administration: how the RACF database is built, what each kind of profile does, how the product is adapted to your environment, and how it works alongside DFSMS and program control.

SKU: 390. Category: z/OS
  • Description

Description

IBM course code:SZ81G
Delivery:Online, classroom or onsite
Duration:3 days (24 hours)
Who it is for:Administrators and systems programmers responsible for how RACF is set up, not just for using it.
Recommended background:Experience administering RACF, or ES19G.

Who this course fits

  • Teams about to implement RACF or to rebuild how it is configured.
  • Anyone who has to work out why the RACF database has grown and what can be done.
  • Administrators who need to control which programs may run and with what privilege.

Course content

  • An overview of security on z/OS
  • The RACF database and its structure
  • Profiles and functions: what each one does
  • Customising RACF for your own environment
  • Program control
  • RACF and DFSMS working together

Training with SIXE, IBM Business Partner

  • Labs on a real RACF environment, with profiles and permissions broken and fixed in class.
  • Taught directly by IBM Champion instructors from the SIXE team.
  • Credly badges available: credly.com/organizations/sixe/badges
  • Flexible format — online, classroom or onsite — in closed groups, priced per attendee, in the language of your choice (ES / EN / FR).

Instructors specialised in IBM Z and z/OS

Engineers from the SIXE team who administer security on production z/OS systems. Several recognised as IBM Champion.

Frequently asked questions

Is this user administration?
No. Users and groups are ES19G or BE87G. This looks at the product from the inside: the database, the configuration options and how it integrates with DFSMS.

Does it help prepare a RACF migration?
Yes, that is one of the usual uses: understanding what is in the database before touching it is what prevents surprises.

Can you deliver it at our premises?
Yes, and remotely with a live instructor too. Closed groups of four to ten people, in Spanish, English or French.
