For the remote or branch office

A branch office usually has a shallow comms cabinet, and this 1U fits where the others in this family will not: it is 43 cm deep, against roughly 75 for a Hyper. With 16 cores at 4.5 GHz it comfortably runs the domain controller, the file server, the phone system or a couple of virtual machines with the local services, and it has a PCIe 5.0 slot in case you need a network card or a small GPU.

The cuts are where you would expect on an entry-level machine: a single 500 W power supply with no redundancy, a single M.2 drive in the Gold configuration and a 192 GB memory ceiling. If the branch cannot afford to be down even for a few hours, we quote it as a custom build with a second mirrored drive, or propose two units.

What we do

We leave it installed with Proxmox VE or whatever system you use at head office, with the BMC (the remote management controller) reachable over VPN so we can reinstall it or view its console without anyone at the office having to touch it, which is what people appreciate most when the branch is in another city.

Questions about the AS-1015A-MT-01-G2

Will it fit in a comms cabinet?

It measures 437 × 43 × 429 mm, so it fits 19-inch cabinets 600 mm deep. Check too that the cabinet has ventilation and a UPS-backed socket, because it will be working in an enclosed space.

Does it support ECC memory?

The board accepts DDR5 modules with and without ECC, up to 192 GB across four slots. For a server that will sit alone in an office, ECC is the sensible choice: we check whether the module in the Gold configuration is ECC and, if not, we move it to a custom build with ECC memory.

Can I add a second drive?

Yes. The board has two PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots and the chassis takes up to four internal 2.5-inch SATA drives, and the Gold configuration only uses one M.2. Fitting the second M.2 as a mirror is the most useful change for a branch office, and we quote it as a custom configuration.

Is the AS-1015A-MT-01-G2 right for what you're building?

Tell us about the workload and the data centre it's going into, and we'll come back with the price, a confirmed lead time and what it would take to get it running.
