FileNet Content Manager 5.6 object store course (WF412G)

1.225,00€

A 9-hour hands-on course focused on one of the most critical tasks of any FileNet project: building and configuring object stores. You will learn to design storage areas, model metadata with property templates and classes, and automate the repository through events and subscriptions.

Category: FileNet
  • Description

Description

For over 15 years we have been delivering official IBM training to enterprises and public administrations across Europe and Latin America. This course gives you the skills you need to build and configure an object store in IBM FileNet Content Manager 5.6.x in a containerised environment running on IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation and Red Hat OpenShift. It is the natural next step after the introductory course WF411G, and the essential foundation for any real FileNet content management project.

Course details

IBM code: WF412GCategory / Subcategory: IBM FileNet / FileNet Content Manager 5.6.x
Delivery: Online and classroomDuration: 9 hours
Version: FileNet Content Manager 5.6.xDigital badge: Yes, after completing the Instructor-Led version

Course description

An object store is the basic unit where FileNet stores documents, folders, metadata and security policies. Knowing how to create and configure it correctly is the foundation of any IBM FileNet Content Manager deployment: if the object store is poorly designed, the rest of the project will drag performance, security and maintenance problems for years.

In this course you will learn how to create an object store from the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine (ACCE) and how to configure it in the IBM Business Automation Navigator administration desktop so that it is accessible to business users. You will learn to define storage areas (file storage areas, storage policies and advanced storage areas) to manage where and how the repository content is persisted. You will work with choice lists and property templates to build the metadata for object classes, and you will create custom Document and Folder classes to organise content according to your organisation’s real needs. Finally, you will learn how to define events and subscriptions that trigger custom code or automatic actions when objects are created or modified in the repository.

Target audience

Developers and administrators who will be working with IBM FileNet Content Manager 5.6.x repositories deployed on IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation and Red Hat OpenShift, and who need to master the creation and configuration of object stores as part of a content management project.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of the course FileNet Content Manager 5.6.x: Introduction (WF411G / ZF411G) or equivalent knowledge.
  • Familiarity with enterprise content management (ECM) concepts.
  • Basic Linux operating system knowledge.
  • General understanding of containers and Kubernetes.

Learning objectives

  • Build an object store from scratch in the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine.
  • Configure the object store so that it is accessible from the IBM Business Automation Navigator desktop.
  • Create file storage areas, storage policies and advanced storage areas.
  • Define choice lists and property templates for repository metadata.
  • Create custom Document and Folder classes adapted to your information model.
  • Manage subscriptions with event actions to automate repository behaviour.

Recognition and digital badge

When you complete the Instructor-Led version of this course, you will be eligible to earn an IBM training digital badge that you can display on LinkedIn, your website or your professional profiles to certify your knowledge of building and configuring object stores in IBM FileNet Content Manager 5.6.x.

Instructors

The vast majority of our IBM courses are delivered directly by our own engineers, not by external trainers. It is the only way we know to guarantee real training quality. We complement every course with our own materials and labs, based on the experience we have gathered through real FileNet deployments, migrations and projects over the past 15 years.

Added value

This course is eminently practical: the object store is something you do not understand by reading manuals, but by building it and breaking it several times. That is why we adapt the labs to the profile of each group — training developers who will integrate applications against FileNet is not the same as training administrators who will operate the environment — and we focus on the real problems that show up in projects: class design decisions, storage strategies, metadata modelling and the kind of typical mistakes that are very expensive to discover in production. Our documentation is always kept up to date to the latest product version.
